0:59.0	Our story starts in 1982, about 30 minutes outside of Washington, D.C., in the town of Brandywine,
1:07.0	Maryland. In the early morning hours of April 3rd,
1:11.3	a 22-year-old college student named Stephanie Ann Rober
1:14.9	was driving home after a night of fun with their friends in D.C.
1:20.3	It was dark out.
1:21.8	She was the only person on the road at the time,
1:24.3	and tragically, along the way,
1:32.3	Stephanie swerved her orange dodge off the road, perhaps to avoid hitting an animal. But when she did, she went into a ditch and accidentally
1:39.1	hit a tree stump. When she tried to start her engine again, it wouldn't turn over.
1:45.0	And in the days before cell phones, Stephanie found herself stranded on a desolate road in the middle of nowhere,
1:53.0	surrounded by dense forest.
1:57.0	Her only options were to wait in her car until someone stopped to help, or she could walk
2:03.2	and try to find the nearest phone so she could call her parents.
