Today is episode number 189. I want to talk to you about your MQ. You know what it is now because I talked about it on the last episode, and now I'm going to

0:23.2

talk about it a little bit more. Get you all ready for Thanksgiving. Stay tuned.

0:33.9

Hi there. The holidays are coming. The holidays are coming. And I think Thanksgiving is right around the

0:41.7

corner. And then right after that, we've got Christmas. So we've got a lot of teachers

0:48.1

helping us move along in our mindfulness movement, especially around food. And I think showing a lot of gratitude

0:57.2

for this is the best thing that we can do. And this exact episode is more on what we talked about

1:04.3

last time. So I let you in on my secret on the MQ, your mindfulness quotient, right? We're learning how to measure it now. And I used a quiz

derived from one of several standardized tests designed to assess how smart somebody is or their

1:51.4

intelligence. And then I talked about last time about an EQ, and this is nothing that I've made up,

1:57.0

but this is what Daniel Goldman came up with. That is the capability of individuals to recognize

2:04.6

their own and other people's emotions, to discriminate between different feelings and label them

2:10.3

appropriately, and to use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior, and to manage

2:15.9

or adjust emotions to adapt environments or achieve

2:19.1

one's goals. And I think probably most of you who I talk to have pretty good IQs and

2:26.4

EQs. Now, what I am introducing you to, which is where we are doing the work, on your MQ, which is the mindfulness quotient.

2:39.1

And your mindfulness intelligence or your mindfulness quotient is really like mindfulness is a

2:47.6

non-judgmental, really the most important word there, non-judgmental,
