What's been very surprising to those of us who've followed this stuff for a long time is how effective the consumer boycotts over the past couple of years have been.

The Budlai boycott and the Target boycott were incredibly successful and from my perspective, incredibly surprising because generally conservatives don't do well with boycotts, but they did well

with those, and they had an incredible impact. So yes, you're right. Consumers can have an incredible

Well, you might call the Washington Stand a newspaper, sort of.

While we do publish five days a week, we haven't killed any trees or bought any ink.

We're all digital.

But another traditional newspaper feature we lack are obituaries.

You know, the section where it lists all the people who died recently and has their photo from 30 years ago, so nobody recognizes them. Well, we don't have any current plans to add obituaries at the moment, but if we did, the focus might not be on dead people, but dead concepts.

The past few years have seen a precipitous rise and subsequent free fall of concepts like diversity, equity, and inclusion, also known as DEI,

and environmental social governance, known as ESG, critical theory, and wokeism.

The 2024 election certainly brought with it a change in the government's posture toward

these things, with President Trump and his cabinet members vowing to rid the federal government

of DEI. But is DEI really dead?

An NBC news poll in March showed that 49% of registered voters said that DEI workplace programs should be eliminated.

But 48% said they should continue.

Like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn showing up at their own funeral, is the report of DEI's death a great

exaggeration?
