Hey folks, Tom Woods here. We are in the middle of Scott Horton Week and today we're going to

dial it up a bit because I'm going to bring up a complicated subject. And that is Syria.

The subject I think we could all stand to know a little bit more about and we know for

fact Scott knows everything there is to know. So we're going to take a little extra time in

this episode. I'm just going to let Scott talk here. So Scott is just going to give us a big

lesson on what the deal is in Syria, what the origin of the conflict is and who the parties are

and all those sorts of things. We're going to review all that with Scott. You know, Scott,

of course, is our great foreign policy expert and he is the author most recently of enough already

time to end the war on terrorism. Scott, welcome back. Thanks Tom. All right Scott. Now to me,

this is the heavy lifting episode. I mean, for you, I'm sure you could be doing 12 other things,

but it seems to me it would be the situation in Syria in some ways reminds me of the Balkans in

the mid 1990s and that I was in grad school at that point and there was all this conflict going

on in the Balkans and I did not understand anything about it. And I thought someday when I'm less busy,

I'm going to go back and figure out what the hell was happening. Right. And so I'm exactly the same

way about that. Yeah. Right. So about 10 years later, I did actually sit down and read about it.

And I actually ended up writing a little bit about it in my 33 questions book. But yeah, at the time,

I thought I don't even know where to begin. And I think so the only parallel between the Balkans

and Syria is simply that I think it just seems impossibly complicated to the average person.
