Hey guys, welcome back to the show and thank you so much for tuning in. In today's episode, we are going to be looking at some of Vice

News's best or worst, depending on how you look at it pieces, and one male to female trans

athlete is begging, pleading to be allowed to compete

against biological females after a recent bill in Idaho banned trans athletes

from women's sports. So recently it was announced that a huge round of layouts would be hitting

digital media companies including unfortunately heartbreakingly Vice News.

If you guys have seen the show before you'll know that Vice is one of my personal favorites

and that I think they are always good for a laugh, but we have this piece from Variety describing what's happening.

So apparently Vice Media Group, which includes Refinery 29,

is laying off 155 employees or more than 5%

of its total worldwide head count in response

to revenue declines stemming from the pandemic.

Vices digital teams will apparently be disproportionately affected by the layoffs.

Currently, the company's digital organization accounts for 50% of headcount costs,

but only brings in about 21% of the revenue.

This is interesting to me since the whole shutdown has happened and the economy has taken

a downturn, we've seen that a lot of writers, journalists,

general verified Twitter accounts have pretty much told anyone who wants the economy to reopen

that they want to kill grandmothers, right?

And I think part of that is due to the fact that their jobs have largely until now been safe,

but now that we're seeing these layoffs happening,

I wonder if perhaps some of them will be

...
