Hello and welcome to Business 300. My name is Philip Kulenshov and this is 300

seconds about business. We're all a busy people so I have five minutes or less to get my point across.

Off to the races, five minutes. We're in the middle of uncovering six facets of organizational structure.

Building a business, especially one that is getting a little more complicated, requires you to look at the elephant from different perspectives.

The first facet of function means you need functions who have autonomy and functions who maintain control.

The second facet of context means you have work to do for today, tomorrow, and the future.

The third facet of focus means the work incorporates tasks, persons, and people.

And the fourth facet of objective means you need to execute, equip, and plan. Two more.

The fifth facet is the framework. You have a business that's operating within different context

and holding different focal points and working to accomplish different objectives. You have to

consider today, tomorrow, and the future. You have to consider the task, the person, and the people.

You have to consider execution, equipping, and planning. These facets require a certain kind of framework to enable

them to work. As we consider the frameworks, we need to make sure that we set up the business to be

both effective and efficient, to do the right things and to do them the right way. Executing today's

tasks is useless if it's the wrong task,

and planning to bring people into the future is useless if you'll never make traction in getting

there. You need a framework that can ensure your business's effectiveness and efficiency. The world of

today revolves around executing the task. Getting the task completed is what today is all about. Make the part,

do the job, send the email. Whatever it is, the task is what fills today's slot. This

is the work the business does. The best way to get the task done is within a closed framework

with as much predetermined efficiency as can be managed. That means you need defined and

repeatable processes for how to do the job
