Nearly the end of the retreat, tomorrow is the last full day,

who will be sitting and walking until mid afternoon, and then we'll work with some mindful speaking tomorrow afternoon.

And so, in considering what to speak about,

I thought it might be helpful to speak about a particular aspect of practice that can in part serve you,

not just while you continue to be on the retreat, but as you return.

And that is conscious intention, the intention of the heart.

And I would speak about it since in the morning instructions we spoke about beginning to examine intention,

as a way of linking the universal aspects of the Dharma to the personal.

The universal aspects, as we see it, walk, we see that all things change, that they're all impermanent,

that they are unreliable, insubstantial, that's duke,

and that they are selfless, that they can't be controlled or possessed or kept in any form.

And that if we let go, we come to ease, balance, to peace.

So we begin to see the universal aspects of life, that we can't grasp and hold it.

It's not ours to possess, it is always changing.

And yet within this ever-changing flow, this universal truth, the river of experience,

there is also the mystery of our individual life, and that we could call the personal.

And within the personal, which is made up of the patterns that continue to repeat in our life,
