Hey gang, it's me, Dr. Steve. I hope you're having a wonderful Saturday, but I did want to comment on the latest bombshell developments going on in Russia as many of you I'm sure have heard by now.

I mean, it's all over the news.

The group of mercenaries known as the Wagner group, they were instrumental in the recent taking over the city of Buckmood about a month ago.

Their leader, Evgeny Pregozion, he's basically gone rogue.

As some have called it, he's gone full Colonel Kurtz from Apocalypse Now, right?

He's had a long rivalry with Russian military leadership, particularly the Minister of Defense, Shoigu, as well as the Chief of the General Staff, Geralsimov.

This is a few that's been going on for months now. Pregozion has a habit of posting very public in subordinate comments about Shoigu and Russian military leadership in general over the last few months.

But now it seems to come to a sort of high noon moment. That's how Alex Christopher over at the Duran put it this morning, which I love. Pregozion is basically directed his forces over to the city of Rostov on Don, which is near the Donbass.

And he's calling out Shoigu for like a shootout. He basically wants to take over the leadership of the Russian military.

Now again, we need to reiterate here, this is something that's been going on for some time now. I mean, I think it was the very weak that Buckmood fell in the whole Wagner paramilitary group.

We're being hailed as heroes all throughout Russia. That very weak. Pregozion filmed a blistering video, absolutely excoriating Russian military leadership.

So this hostility has been going on for some time now. But now it's obviously reached a climax with Pregozion entering into Russia with his forces, the Wagner forces and basically demanding a take over the Russian military leadership.

So we have to be absolutely clear upfront what this is and what it is not. It is emphatically not a coup d'etat. This is not an insurrection. Vladimir Putin hasn't even come up in any of Pregozion's addresses.

Okay. This is a beef with the Russian military leadership. So this is better understood as a mutiny again, Alex and Alexander of the Iran we're talking about this earlier today. I thought that was an excellent distinction.

This is not a coup. This is a mutiny. It's a dispute within the Russian armed forces.

Now for his part, President Putin addressed the Russian nation just hours ago, very calm, very measured, very collected, and very constantly assured the Russian people that this situation is under control, and it will be dealt with decisively, meaning Pregozion what the very least be going to prison for this.

And if that's the case, this should probably be wrapped up in the next 48 hours or so. We'll see, but I don't see Putin allowing this mutiny to go on for very long.
