Grief, I want to talk to you today, just for a few minutes.

I want to talk to you about grief.

What it means to grieve, what it means to come, face to face with your own mortality as many of you no doubt saw and know

yesterday NBA legend Kobe Bryant his his young daughter, G.G. and seven other people, including the pilot of a helicopter they were in, crashed, killing all on board. And the loss has been hard for a lot of people, but I want to come at it from a different angle. I just want to talk about how these sudden tragic losses.

Of course what they mean for the people who experience them,

but what they mean for us as well, all right?

You know, I had so, the breakdown.

You know, I had so many conversations yesterday with my wife, with my children.

So many conversations with brothers that are currently in the NBA, retired athletes in the NBA,

guys that I've become friends with over the years, I had so many

conversations about the sting of death, the pain of it the the finality of it and you know as many of you may know I was a

pastor for many years and depending on what faith tradition you are part of, you know, many

faith traditions don't see physical death as finality, but for those of us left on earth whatever our worldview it when someone passes

you are keenly deeply suddenly aware that you will not see them again on this earth in the

sting of that, the pain of not being able to say goodbye, of not being able to say goodbye,

of not being able to say thank you,

not being able to share a laugh or high five or a hug
