Jeff Stone is an enormous figure in the world of civil liberties and the study of the

First Amendment, an eminent law professor at the University of Chicago.

He hired a young lawyer named Barack Obama to teach at the University of Chicago.

He taught alongside Antonin Scalia when he was a professor.

And among the many students that he taught over the years was a tall, lanky, conservative

named Jim Comey.

I sat down with Professor Stone the other day to talk about all of that in his new book,

Sex and the Constitution.

Good to have you here.

I always try and do a little reading up on my folks who are coming through.

And though we've known each other and I know you not just from campus, but from by reputation.

I didn't realize that we're fellow New Yorkers.

And tell me a little bit about your family.

It wasn't necessarily ordained that you would become a law professor.

No, definitely not.

My parents lived in the Bronx and their parents, my grandparents, came over here in the

late 19th century as the kids.
