missing people are people of color, despite people of color only making up about 13% of the population.

But the Columbia Journalism Review created a tool that calculates the number of stories your

disappearance would net based on demographics, and found that missing black people only account

for 13% of news stories while missing white people were featured in 70% of

news stories. So before we get into today's story, I want to share with you the case of Ariana

Fitz. Ariana Fitz was reported missing from the San Francisco, California area on April 5th of 2016. She was last seen in Oakland,

California in January or February of 2016. On April 8th of 2016, Ariana's mother, Nicole Fitz,

was found murdered and buried in a public park in San Francisco. It is believed that Ariana was not with her mother

when she was killed. At the time, Ariana went missing. She was only three years old. She was born on

September 6th of 2013, so she would be 10 years old now. She is black with black hair and brown eyes.
