We have not taken the approach of like total technology abstention for us, and I'm not trying to bind anyone else's conscience. For us, the abstention model, I don't think trains them for proper use of technology later on to just give them a device when they've not been taught how to use it.

So we have our daughter who is 13 has a phone.

And two, to Apple's credit, and I hate to give Apple any credit whatsoever, like if you're

actually intentional as a parent with configuring the controls of that phone, it's a very

powerful set of tools that parents have.

Right. But here's my insight that I would have for listeners. Most parents don't utilize those

aren't, if kids are not exposed to certain people and ideas, well, they kind of are strange

because of it, which presents its own parenting dilemma. And kids ask questions parents never

had to think about. How many genders are there? Am I racist because I'm white?

Am I hopelessly disadvantaged because I'm not? How do I know what I am? Leading our kids

through a world we're struggling to understand ourselves as parents isn't simple. But my guest today
