According to data by the FBI, nearly 40% of missing people are people of color, despite people of color only making up about 13% of the population.

But the Columbia Journalism Review created a tool that calculates the number of stories your disappearance would net based on demographics,

and found that missing black people only account for 13% of news stories,

while missing white people were featured in 70% of news stories.

So before we get into today's story, I want to share with you the story of Skyler Sparrow.

Skylar Sparrow went missing on June 16th of 2023 from Baltimore, Maryland.

Skylar Sparrow went missing from the Western District of Baltimore City, and she was last seen wearing a gray Araboscel t-shirt, blue shorts,

and tan crocks. Skylar Sparrow is 13 years old. She is black with black hair and brown eyes.

She is 5 foot 3 and about 127 pounds.
