Hi everybody. Tom Woods here talking a little bit about Sweden today. Now, we've gone over Sweden

quite a bit on the show. In fact, I have even considered doing an e-book. You know, I have all these

e-books that I release. I've been thinking of doing one on Sweden and Scandinavia in general

because so many of our folks have to deal with this objection. I think at this point, it's become

rather a commonplace. It wasn't anything I remember having to deal with growing up, let's say,

in the 80s and being in college in the 90s, but since that time, the idea of

Sweden as a model of government intervention has just overwhelmed political discourse, really,

because anytime you have a complaint about government intervention, you get told that Sweden

has plenty of it and look at how great they're doing. So we've had to respond to that in one way or another.

And one way of doing that has been to point out, for example, that actually Sweden started

off fairly free market and that in the mid-20th century, you can see in the statistics that

there was a smaller percentage of GDP spent by the government

in Sweden than in the United States, and that it was in the 1960s and 1970s that the welfare
