I first met Jennifer Granholm, who was then Governor of Michigan in 2008 when we recruited

her to play Sarah Palin in the debate prep for Joe Biden.

But I had watched her for years before that governing a state that had huge economic

challenges.

And before that, as Attorney General, it was one of the leading Attorney Generals in

the country.

One of the most interesting, candid, thoughtful people I know in politics.

So I was happy to sit down with her the other day at the Institute of Politics, where she's

been a fellow this spring.

Jennifer Granholm, welcome here and to the Institute of Politics.

So glad to be here.

Oh, it's totally fun.

So the thing I hear when I raise your name among a lot of Democrats is profound anger at

your parents for being Canadians.

That's where you were born, which kind of puts a crimp in the whole Granholm for president.

That's a good thing.

I'm not a threat to anybody.

I kind of like that.

Tell me about your folks.

You spent just the first four years of your life, right, in Canada.
