Guest Info/Bio: Guest Bio: This week I welcome back John Dominic Crossan! Dr. Crossan is one of the preeminent New Testament scholars and historian of early Christianity. He is known for his contemporary historical Jesus research and he has written both popular and academic books on an array of topics. Dr. Crossan received his Doctor of Divinity at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth, the Irish national seminary and completed two additional years of study in biblical languages at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. He completed two additional years of study in archeology at the Ecole Biblique in Jordanian East Jerusalem. He served as co-chair of the Jesus Seminar and also served as president of the Chicago Society of Biblical Research from 1978-1979, and as president of the Society of Biblical Literature in 2012. 0:00.0	The thing is that when the Torah was being put together, probably after the exile from Babylon

0:11.7	priestly tradition. And they put enough for a different vision of God up front in chapter one.

0:50.4	by the way, you're told that this is under the Sabbath rule, because that's the whole point of that even God can't skip the Sabbath as where God has to rest.
1:00.6	Because the Sabbath is, as it is clear from the rule, everyone has a right to a day off.
1:07.5	Everyone has a right to rest.
1:08.9	Even your ass and your ox and your slave, everyone has a right
1:13.6	to arrest. It's not about taking a day off to pray. God demands, we're not even talking about food yet.
1:21.9	We're talking about the most basic thing because you have to feed your slave, but you don't have to
1:26.2	give your slave a rest.
1:27.9	So Sabbath day, Sabbath year, Sabbath jubilee makes time beat to the rhythm of human justice.
1:37.8	That's what we're told we're supposed to do.
1:39.8	That's our image and likeness.
1:41.1	That's who we're made.
1:42.6	Now, nowhere in that first chapter do I find
1:44.6	any mention of punishment, of sanctions. If you were to say to God in Genesis 1, but what if I don't
