If you've been around for a while, you've surely heard of Lens Rentals.com,

the company that Roger Sakala founded, or perhaps his popular blog postings, an invaluable source of great information from a man who knows lenses inside and out, literally.

The company he founded years ago has grown to be a giant in the lens rental business

and these days his skills are put to use by making sure those lenses get properly tested

before heading out the door to photographers who very much need them to work when they arrive for their big shoot.

The former physician and photography hobbyist was going on an Alaskan cruise back in 2006,

so he bought himself a 500 millimeter F4, but he felt guilty because he knew he likely

wouldn't use it again, and that sparked an idea for him.

He was at a party when he lamented about how insurance was ruining medicine and was thinking about a career change.

And that's when a businessman told him to stick with medicine because doctors are horrible business people in his opinion.
