Aaron and Abigail Dack met at a party in Toronto in 1985. She was 20 and he was 24. It had been a

going away party. They went up riding in a car together and Abby got dropped off. It had been a

Friday night. Three days later, on Monday, she was at home and there was a knock at the door.

It was Aaron. He had remembered where she got dropped

off. They dated on and off for a few years and got serious after they both finished school.

In September of 1990, they got married in Toronto and moved to Brussels and then to Boston

for Aaron's work. Their daughter, Olivia, was born in 1995, and they moved to New Jersey two years later for his job in Manhattan.

Two years later, Carter was born.

Aaron would leave the house at 6 a.m. and often would not get home until 8 at night.

And as Abby explained it, when he was home, he was really home.

On Sundays, he made mini mouse pancakes, he'd work out in the basement. He'd crank up music really loud and would use Olivia like a set of barbells, bench pressing her, and she'd giggle the whole time. His other favorite place was Home Depot. He'd take Carter and they'd be gone for hours. She suspected he'd get one of those carts you can put lumber on

and just roll him around the store in it.
