Summary

NOTE: I usually record podcasts when my littles are down for naps and my older kids are gone to our once-a-week homeschool co-op. This episode was recorded while we were all home with a stomach bug, so there's a bit more background noise than usual. Honestly, between the pukey kids and the background squawking, I feel like we managed to set an appropriate tone for an episode called "Hard Is Not The Same Thing as Bad." ; )

Hey, friends! I wrote a new book! And it's available for pre-order!

In this episode, I talk about the period in my life during which the Lord impressed the phrase "hard is not the same thing as bad" deep into my soul. (Hint: It wasn't a season of ease.) Since then, I've discovered from the enthusiastic response to my sharing it that it's such a crucial (and biblical!) concept that every mother (and honestly, every Christian) needs to embrace in order to run well the race set out for us by God.

Be encouraged that the hard you're experiencing is not random or cruel but instead designed by God to draw you closer to Him and to grow you up in maturity and faith.

BONUS: You get an exclusive sneak peek at the introduction of HINTSTAB (funny acronym, I know), which I read during this episode.

0:09.7

Mama 10 and Bible believing Christian. And on today's show I want to talk about

0:14.2

something super exciting that's happening in my life and that I think will be

0:19.7

very impactful to yours in about six months and that is the release of my new motherhood

0:24.6

book called Hard is not the same thing as bad the perspective shift that could

0:29.4

completely change the way you mother and I know that when you write books and when you do

0:34.6

e-books and when you write seminars and when you do blog posts you're supposed to

0:38.4

write these grand titles that really capture people's attention and inspire them and make them want to read more.

0:46.0

But I'm just going to tell you that neither the title or the subtitle of my book are

0:51.0

gimmicky in the slightest.

0:52.6

And here's why.

0:54.1

I started using the phrase,

0:55.4

Hard is not the same thing as bad, which is certainly not unique to me.

0:58.7

There are plenty of people that have said something

1:00.5

extremely similar or even exactly the same over the years. I see it on

1:04.2

social media I've seen it in other books I've read. It is not a revolutionary

1:07.8

concept. However, I think it's a concept that we need to be reminded of

1:12.3

often and I started using that phrase

1:14.8

about eight or so years ago when my twins Evianola were toddlers.

1:19.2

And you know if you listen to parts one and two of my toddlers podcast that Evianola's toddlerhood was the one that

1:26.1

gave me the biggest run for my money, made me question everything I thought and knew about

1:30.0

training and parenting and consistency kind of gave me just an absolute need and
