Summary

Whenever I hear someone speak of a mentor or extra wise friend, I always think about my relationship with Shauna Niequist. We met working together at a summer camp when we were both young, and she then has offered me truth and guidance for more than two decades. Shauna Niequist is a NYT best-selling author of five books: Cold Tangerines, Bittersweet, Bread & Wine, Savor, and Present Over Perfect. She lives in New York City with her husband Aaron and their two sons. I wrote about Shauna in Share Your Stuff. I'll Go First. in Chapter 2: Who was there? Shauna was there in one of the most important conversations of my life, when I called her heartbroken in Oklahoma and she answered the phone at exactly the right moment in Chicago. In this episode, we talk about belonging, and magical moments, and books (because we both just love to talk about books). As usual, she left me with several things to ponder after we were done speaking, specifically about what we're actually saying when we share our pain.
