Hi everyone, welcome to Bad on Paper Podcast. This is episode 11 and I'm your host, Becca

0:25.5

Freeman and I'm Grace Atwood. So we have a new name. Yes, we have a new name and we're both a little bit

0:34.5

honestly we're both feeling a little bit blue right now because we had to change the name. Yeah,

0:40.1

we're bummed. I'm bummed and I'm frustrated. Same. I guess before we get into it, should we tell people

0:47.7

what happened? Yeah. So there is another young adulting podcast and when we researched

0:55.4

ideas and names for this podcast, we basically looked at a few different things. We wanted to see if

1:01.0

we could get the Instagram handle. We wanted to see if we could get the URL and we were able to

1:07.6

and this other podcast wasn't even on our radar. Yeah, so probably at like the 11th hour when we were

1:13.4

getting ready to upload our podcast to iTunes, we noticed them and we figured that Apple would

1:19.8

reject our podcast if there was anything wrong with two podcasts having the same name. We'd already

1:25.1

plunk down money on our branding. We'd already bought the URL, set up our website, everything like that. So

1:31.5

we left it to iTunes and when we got approved, we figured, hey, this must be fine. There's actually

1:38.2

a bunch of podcasts in the iTunes store that have the same name. Yeah, like J-Train, there's like

1:43.1

10 of those. Yeah, and then there's a bunch of podcasts that are called outside of the box.

1:48.3

Like there's so many examples. So I don't know, I was just like, oh, this just must be a thing.

1:53.2

It's not a big deal. But apparently it was. So we got to see some desist. Yep. And Apple was

2:01.0

threatening to take down our content. And we got kind of like, I don't know the exact right word

2:08.1

to use, but like a spat with a little legal battle. Yeah, the host of the other podcast, which is

2:13.4

super frustrating. I mean, first of all, because we started this to create a community and to create

2:22.3

content like not to be bogged down and like, I've talked to a bunch of lawyers and like, this is

2:29.1

not what we signed up for. This was supposed to be our fun project. If anyone's keeping track, I think

2:34.0

we're up to having made $40 from this, of which we've invested all of that into snacks. So
