Okay, and welcome to overdue. It's a podcast about the books you've been meaning to read. My name is Craig.

And my name is Andrew.

And as always, this week we are tackling a new book that one of us has read.

Sometimes both of us have read the book, but this time only I have read the book, right Andrew?

Yes, well, in a given week, like neither of us will have read the book for that podcast.

Like sometimes one of us will read a book that the other read in high school or at some point in the distant past.

And we're just relying on our totally insufficient memories of the book to guide the discussion.

But yes, the point is that one of us will pick a book.

And because we don't want this to be like a book club that's kind of inscrutable to people who haven't themselves read the book,

one of us will always be describing it and talking about it to the other person.

And the other person will be like an unformed listener, just like you people out there in radio land or podcast land at home.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at when I asked you that loaded question.

Just the idea that I don't want people to feel alienated if they haven't read the book that is being discussed.

But sometimes when before I'm about to read something, I do appreciate if maybe someone has recommended it to me,

and they've given me some things to think about or diving into any work of art that I'm not familiar with.

Sometimes that's useful, especially when it's not something that kind of hinges on mystery, you know,

when simply just talking about it does not spoil your experience, per se.

So yeah, so without further ado, I read all quite on the Western Front this week.
