My selfish entitled friend demands that I allow him to propose to his girlfriend at my extravagant

birthday dinner. And despite the fact that I told him no, he can't do that, as well as taking all the

time to plan this special celebration, this jerk still decided to go against my wishes and

propose right there on the spot to his girlfriend. And now as a result, my friends are telling me

that I should be happy

for them and that I'm making a big deal out of nothing. But at this point, I'm honestly super pissed off and I really don't know what to do. Here's what happened. family. I was excited because I don't usually throw big birthday celebrations and I wanted to

enjoy the night with the people that I care about. A few days before the party, my friend who we

will call Mark pulled me aside and asked if he could propose to his girlfriend who we will call Sarah at my birthday dinner. He said it would be the perfect setting because all of our friends would be there and that this would make the night extra special. But you know what? I told him no. I said I was happy for him and Sarah. But this was my birthday and I didn't want the focus shifted away from that, and while he did look a little disappointed, he said that he understood. And trust me, this will be important later on. Well, fast forward to the dinner, and everything was going great, until Mark suddenly stood up, clinked his glass, and started giving a speech. Now, at first, I thought he was going to say something about my birthday,

but no, I was completely wrong. He got down on one knee and proposed to Sarah right there at the party.

Now, obviously, Sarah was overjoyed. Everyone started clapping, and suddenly my birthday dinner

turned into their engagement celebration. I was stunned and honestly pretty pissed off, but I didn't want to make a scene. I just smiled and went along with it. Afterward, I pulled Mark aside and I asked him why he did that when I already told him no. He then just shrugged his shoulders and said, I knew you'd understand. It was too perfect of a moment to pass up. I then told him I felt disrespected, and he suddenly got defensive, saying I was being selfish

because a proposal is a bigger deal than a birthday. Well, now some of my mutual friends are saying

that I should be happy for them and that I'm making a big deal out of nothing, but I can't help

but feel like my night was completely hijacked. So seriously, am I the jerk for being upset that my

friend proposed at my birthday party after I explicitly told him not to?

Because right now, I'm incredibly pissed off.

Okay, I really need to get this out there because I kind of sense a theme when it comes to people proposing at other engagements.

And I mean like stuff like a wedding or a birthday party or like a baby shower or something like that.
