Summary

There is a large contingent of evangelical leaders that believes Christians should not talk about- much less engage in- political topics. We see today how this has worked out for us, as there are few strong Christians in the political sphere and millions of Christians who don’t even vote.

My friend Pastor Sam Sanden is here today to share the how and why of taking the Biblical worldview outside the walls of the church and into our communities. He does this better than anyone I know at his church and in his community!Prime Sponsor: No matter where you live, visit the Functional Medical Institute online today to connect with Drs Mark and Michele Sherwood. Hey, everyone. This is Heidi St. John. Welcome to the Heidi St. John podcast. You guys know that I am very

0:06.1

passionate about Christians being involved at the intersection of faith and culture. And today I have one of my

0:12.8

favorite people on the planet in the studio with me. Sam Sandin is here. Sam is an associate pastor at

0:17.8

Father's House Church in Longview, Washington. He and his wife,

0:21.0

Sharnessa, were very helpful and instrumental in my run for Congress. And they've been very,

0:28.2

very entrenched in the local community where they live. And I think this is how God's people

0:32.9

make lasting cultural change is to actually engage as believers, right? We don't hide it. We engage from a

0:40.4

position of faith and strength, and we take out what we know to be true about the Bible, and we

0:44.7

apply it to every aspect of our lives. And these guys do it very, very well. And I've asked Sam to

0:50.4

come to the studio today and just have this conversation with me. We want to encourage you to

0:55.3

get involved where you are. And for some of you that's going to be running for Congress,

0:59.4

for some of you it's going to be helping people that run for positions of authority inside your

1:04.5

community. Some of you, it's going to be getting more involved in church, but God's people

1:08.2

belong in the culture. So this is going to be a great conversation.

1:11.3

Before we jump into it, I want to say a shout out to the sponsors of today's podcast.

1:15.2

It's being sponsored in part by my friend at the Functional Medical Institute.

1:18.7

You can find out more by going to homeschoolhealth.com. Settle in, you guys. I'm glad you're

1:22.9

here and stick around. I think you're going to be encouraged. Well, thank you guys for tuning in today.

1:36.7

I want to remind you that if you haven't checked out my speaking season, I hope that you will.

1:40.9

You can go to Heidi St.john.com forward slash events for that.

1:49.5

And you can read through the Bible with me at Faith That Speaks.com. We would love it if you guys would get engaged with us as I take women through God's word. You guys, there is power in the

1:55.2

word of God. There's power in prayer. And God calls us to be people that impact the culture.
