Summary

New York Times bestselling author of Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man, Emmanuel Acho joins Linda and Drew to chat about how we can all come together to mend the racial divide in our world.

Emmanuel’s honest dialogue offers us accessible tools, vocabulary and perspective.

He also discusses cancel culture, how to actually be an ally and how to talk to people who don't want to listen when it comes to racism.

Reflect:

Check you own biases. It may be difficult but it's a good place to start.

There are several online quizzes available (these might give you a bit of info about the questions to ask yourself during situations; remind you to be more mindful of your reactions and feelings so you can identify any biases).

Begin:

  • Attend (virtual) workshops that focus on race-related issues
  • Avoid using stereotypical, micro-aggressive comments and phrases like “You don't talk like you're black”.
  • Take an ethnic cooking class
  • Have intentional conversations on race with friends, family and colleagues.
