I'm Elvis Mitchell.

It's almost too bad that my guest, Emilio Estevez, used the title of Wisdom for his first film

because it's a title that could apply to almost every film he's made as writer-director.

And those films include, of course, The War of Home, rated X, Bobby, The Way, which we're

going to be talking about today.

As an independent filmmaker, I have to say that my guest, as often as not puts his money

where his mouth is. There's always a pleasure to have him to talk to him. So,

immediately, good to talk to you, man. How are you? Elvis, it's so nice to talk to you, man.

And again, I want to say, and I need to say, congratulations, one independent filmmaker to another.

Gosh, thank you so much.

I can tell you my feet are pretty hot right now.

Anyway, we're here to talk about you.

And thinking about this film, the beginning of the war at home, where your character

and your mother played by Kathy Bates, you're talking about Thanksgiving.

And I was thinking about how that scene is almost really,

there's something that is at the heart of everything you do as a storyteller,

which is that two points of view and people just aren't listening to each other as they talk.

No, indeed.

And she has that wonderful line.
