Summary

The Pugsters take a walk on the weird side with a conversation on UFOs (or, as they are now called, UAPs), AI, and quantum computing as interrelated parts of a new, emerging religion that Glenn calls Technopaganism. There's a whole lot going on in these areas and a lot of it is very strange. Join us as Glenn takes us through a survey of some of the terrain using the work of professor of religion Diana Pasulka as a jumping off point. But be prepared for a lot of things that don't fit the way we've been taught to see the world!

And our topic today is going to be one of these weird ones that I like to do periodically.

1:17.0

We're going to be looking at what a professor of religion by the name of Diana Pesalka

1:26.5

believes to be an emerging religion in the United States right now.

1:33.4

She doesn't have a label for it, but I call it techno-paganism, for lack of a better name.

1:39.3

And this is centered in a lot of ways around the whole, well, it used to be called UFO phenomena.

1:48.6

Although the term of art right now is UAP, which stands for, let's see, it's unidentified anomalous

1:58.2

phenomenon, UAP, rather than UFO.

2:01.6

And the change in name is significant because, first of all, they don't want to assume that what we're looking at are actual objects.

2:11.6

And secondly, we don't want to assume that whatever they are are actually flying.

2:18.7

It could just be, well, it could be almost anything.

2:23.4

So we're changing the name from UFO to UAP, and it turns out that there's a lot of

2:32.2

very odd and very interesting speculation going on surrounding what this is.
