This had to get done. This kid is a guy you drafted in the third round developed. He's a star. He's a leader on the field. He's a leader off the field. He's a team captain. He works hard as hell. There's never any questions about him. He's a consummate professional, a consummate good teammate. You had to get this deal done. Even regardless. Let's say you were just a regular NFL team. You had to get this deal done. But this organization had to get this deal done. I'm thrilled they got it done.

Words that will not be said on this podcast. Sapina in proprieties. Yeah, but new stadium. The same wood bridge. I know from here on out. I'm going to reclaim. I'm going to reclaim my time from you right now. Yeah, just go. This is this is the best thing that this organization could possibly do. Terry is arguably the most underrated receiver in the NFL.

He's finally going to be matched up with a quarterback that has an arm that can get the ball down field to him. He said three straight seasons with 900 or more yards, two straight with more than a thousand. He's played with what eight different quarterbacks in three seasons. It's about time. I love that they got the deal done. They did everything they needed to do. And the deals perfect. I think both for the team and for the player three years 71 mill.

Most of it's guaranteed 71 mill. I mean, it's 50 three years what 55 million guarantee. It's a little north of the AJ Brown deal.

But, but frankly, I don't say this very often when I look at contracts. I think Terry will outperform it. I think he'll get all 70.

Absolutely. And it's great for Terry because he gets to play these three years in his mid 20s and right at the age of 30. He gets to hit free agency again and get another big deal. I love it.

Clear question from a bunch of people that he has one year remaining on his rookie deal. That deal that year still intact. Then this is a three year contract extension after that. Pete, we're going to come back to you. Don't tell me the words. We're not saying just start saying the good words.

I love what Antonio Gibson tweeted soon after the deal happened. He wrote, thank you. I was getting tired of that question. Hashtag big paid. I think we all were getting tired of it too. It felt like an inevitability, but with holdouts and reports about being far apart and then negotiations. You couldn't quite feel good about this until you can now feel good about this with the news actually coming true.

Terry McLaren has been a centerpiece for this team for the first three years of his career. Looks like he'll be that way for the next four years and then we'll see after that. But just I think he can be better too. And he's never really had help across from him. He's never had really consistent help from the quarterback position. So this money looks big now, but I think his numbers can increase.

It'll look like a bargain in a few years. And if you weren't going to extend Terry, there's nobody on the planet worth extending. So it sends a good message to the rest of the club for agents, rookies, everybody can grasp to run the front office. And of course, the player himself, Terry.

One thing I liked is Warren Sharp, who is a super analytical, you know, process driven type guy believes Terry McLaren, maybe the most underrated wide receiver in the NFL.

I get if there's questions about Carson Wentz, I don't think the questions are about his ability on the field largely does he make some bonehead of mistakes or does he maybe try to push it too much, maybe the questions are really about whatever happens off the field with him, but this will be by far the best quarterback that Terry's ever played with.

And if Dotson is is able to be, you know, half of what Pete thinks he is already or if Curtis Samuels able to play like, I mean, I think I think this could work out Terry's getting paid, which he deserves based on the performance he's already done, especially as a third round that hadn't really collected.

But I think this deal in two years, especially as these markets continue to just go up and up and up, I think this deal could look really good for the commanders too.

To the point where I wonder if three years from now they're not trying to get another extension done, I mean, inflation ages gas prices and the loaf of bread man like this the receiver market is only going to keep going up and I think this is.
