Summary

Not one, not two, but three-straight EMERGENCY PODS have now occurred, as JP Finlay, Mitch Tischler and Pete Hailey gathered around yet again, this time to react to Washington landing Curtis Samuel. In this installment, the guys explain how Samuel will make the offense so much more difficult to defend, how he'll fit in among the other weapons and how his arrival caps off what's been a super week for the franchise. Also, at the end, they take some time to say bye to Washington legend and pod legend Nick Sundberg. If you like podcasts where Mitch has a spot-on comparison for Samuel but then later gets testy with JP over a stupid argument that only this show would care about, then this is the episode for you.

Curtis Samuel has joined the Washington football team. This is a big time signing, a big time hold of Washington's address.

If I told you before free agency started, that Washington would sign a top of the market corner, a top of the market wide out,

0:31.0

and somewhat address the quarterback position, I think everybody would do a back foot. Even the big man, Mitch Tishler.

I mean, look, we got a lot to talk about. You supposed to say hot damn hot damn. I'm going to go the longer version of hot damn. I don't care if you are a 50 year burgundy and gold fan or you live in Jerry Jones's stadium on the 50 yard line.

1:11.0

You cannot look at Washington's off season right now and say they are not killing it. They are killing it. And this is the latest killing it signing hot damn.

1:18.0

It was warm on Ryan Fitzpatrick. I warmed up on William Jackson and I am steamed up for Curtis Samuel. I love that signing. I think he had so much of this offense hot damn.

1:31.0

The Curtis Samuel signing makes a ton of sense. I mean, this is something we've all been kind of kicking around for a while. I wrote about it January. I'm written about it twice this week.

1:39.0

I don't think this is a surprise to anybody, but I think it's a really, really good move. He's a super versatile, big, tough football player. Scott Turner loves having weapons all over the field that create mismatches and don't allow the defense to know what's coming.

1:55.0

And I think if you look now at the Washington football teams offense, you have weapons. You have Antonio Gibson, JD McKissick, Curtis Samuel, Terry McClure and Logan Thomas.

2:06.0

And I talked to the bunch of coaches this off season about what they thought about the receiver group. And they did not like the receiver group. They just thought everybody was up a little bit higher than they should be.

2:21.0

Terry's a one. Sure. But like, Cam Sims isn't a two. Cam Sims might be a four, but certainly he's no higher than a three. So now Cam Sims is your third receiver.

2:33.0

And then this also allows Calvin Harman to maybe work his way back. Maybe Antonio Gandy Golden becomes the actual player. So many people thought he could.

2:43.0

This was this was the biggest need. They filled it with the player that makes the most sense. And I think it's really going to help the football team for the 2021 season.

2:54.0

There's a lot to like three years. We'll get to the contract stuff. But I mean, I just think it's a guy that Ron Rivera knows the character and he will fit in culturally everything he wants. Scott Turner knows how to use him.

3:09.0

Terry McClure and played with them in college. There's just so many reasons to like this signing.

3:15.0

If you're listening to this podcast now, you're probably a podcast listener. But our very own JP family has been beating this drum since December that Curtis Samuel was the guy that made the most sense and had Washington football fans saw it.

3:28.0

He had 52 rushing yards, 106 receiving yards back when the Panthers played played Washington. He showed you everything that every part of this game. He had a 44 year 45 year run a 44 year catch.
