Hey folks, Scott Lungard here and this is the M Crit Podcast.

Today, M Crit team member, CC nerd, EM nerd, Rory Spiegel takes us through the basics of

APRV for lung rescue.

Now, most of you who have not used this mode before probably will not be putting this on as

a regular mode of ventilation.

But all of you should have in your back pocket the settings you need to rescue a patient who

is failing on conventional vent settings, whether you're in the ED or the ICU, you should know

how to start a patient on this mode to rescue them while waiting for someone who may be more

experienced to come and talk to you or take over for the later titration of this.

But you should be able to put a patient on and start stabilizing them immediately.

Everyone should know how to do this.

And so we will take you through with today, Rory put a great paper on the topic in the EM

clinics of North America that's linked in the show notes and you can check that out.

So I wanted to get him on to talk about that.

Now, before we get into the show, I've mentioned I think last podcast, a conference I'm doing with
