We weren't sure we were was going to be here or maybe in Egypt or somewhere in the world, |
| 1:21.1 | but we made it to Orange County. |
| 1:45.8 | Yeah, we made it happen, man. |
| 1:46.8 | So first off, can you give the audience a deliberate context as to what you do? Because I think a lot of people know about credit. A lot of people struggle with their credit scores. They're trying to build their credit. They know about credit card points. They know about travel, but it just seems so big, overwhelming, and complex. |
| 1:47.9 | So before we get into that and kind of demystify that and help people around the world take advantage of it, tell us a little bit more about kind of like what you do high level. So the audience has a little context. Yeah. So ultimately what I do and what people do that are into travel hacking is we're taking this amazing system that we have here in the U.S. with our credit system. And we're leveraging these credit card points that you get from spending or also loyalty points from flying and traveling and playing the game that was designed for us and using it to our advantage to get free luxury travel, get more travel, get upgrades, get really nice experiences that otherwise you'd have to shell out a lot of money for |
| 1:43.6 | or potentially never get, depending on where you are in your life. For me, ultimately, I was really interested in this because I wanted to travel and I really wanted to have more travel experiences. And these were things that I thought that, you know, when I first started, I wasn't going to be able to do until I retired. And maybe I was 60 years old or I'd made it in business, you know? I was able to kind of jump in at an early age |
| 2:34.2 | and learn some of the fundamentals of how credit works, |
| 2:32.1 | how credit cards work how credit card points work and use it to my advantage to be able to get amazing trips and then eventually start to get really cool luxury experiences too yeah so we're talking business class first class like we're not talking about just traveling we're talking about traveling in style like the best of the best the best lounges in the world the best places around the country depending where people live talk to me about how you first got into it what was your first foray i know you had a business where you were traveling a little bit like give the alliance little context as kind of how you fell into it and then we'll kind of get into the practical advice sure yeah so when i first started out I was the first employee at this international tour company called MVP International. I still part on it today, but we take youth sports teams and families on international trips. So we were spending a lot on travel and I was trying to find ways to add value to the company because I wanted to get equity and I wanted to help the company grow. And so one of the line items was travel, right? And so I started hearing about this |
| 2:34.4 | thing about credit card points. And I thought, you know, maybe I can add value to the company by |
| 3:41.0 | using these points more effectively and we can save a lot of money. So I started looking into it for that reason. And then, you know, I also was, we were starting this thing and I was hustling. I was young. I was working a bunch of jobs, and I wanted to travel myself. |
| 3:44.4 | And so I realized like, wow, I can use these points for my own trip. |
| 3:39.6 | So my first ever really big trip on points, I went to Thailand in maybe 2015 or 16 with a bunch of friends. And it blew my mind that I could get the entire round trip flight completely free on points. I didn't have to pay for it at all. So once I had that, I was like, this is really cool. I need to look into it more. The next big trip was I went to London for a personal growth and personal development conference. And I flew over in business class. And it was like an $8,000 ticket one way and I paid $5.60. Wow. Now, how did you do that? Zoom in. How the heck did you do that? So basically, we'll get into this a little bit more, but essentially what you're doing is you're taking points that you're earning from everyday spending, from signup bonuses, from different credit cards. |
