So Aeron last time we had John talk about Tyrion, we talked about whether or not Tyrion is a

Mary Sue for Martin. Oh, you brought me on for the other Mary Sue chapter. Well, I feel like we

almost have to have the same exact conversation about Samwell. Is Samwell a Mary Sue for Martin?

I think it's definitely a Gary Stu for sure. I think that Tyrion might represent Martin as he

wishes he were, where Sam is him as he fears he is. A little craven, little cowardly,

little plump, little overly fond of reading and eating tarts instead of swinging a sword and

getting out there and doing stuff. Well, he also loves music and I know Martin is a big music

aficionado. Right. Love the dance even though he's not. I can see Martin cutting a rug at those

dragon cons and the Hugo Awards and the Nebula. Yeah, he's definitely the last one leave the dance

or sure. So I can't I don't think that either one is a straight Mary Sue or Gary Stu or whatever

because I think well, number one, I think that there has to be some kind of wish fulfillment

enacted by the the character whereas Samwell at least seems like he's every bit is every one of

Martin's sort of worst characteristics in capable of finishing books. Yeah. Sam's got scroll stacked

up that just you know, they're like 75% there but just there's a couple of authority issues in

the middle. He can't quite get there. He likes to start new projects. He doesn't like to finish
