Welcome back to Game of Thrones 2 electric Boop-Galoo Emory of St. Anthony. This week we'll

have Professor Jan Do Little Wilson. Jan is a professor of gender studies at the University

of Tulsa. I think that when I originally conceived of doing this book-centric podcast, this

is the sort of conversation between Jan and I. This is the kind of conversation that I envisioned

might be interesting to people that love Game of Thrones, but also who are somewhat critically

oriented, like not just sort of fanboy gushing about how awesome Martin is, which clearly

we do a lot of that on this podcast. But this is the kind of conversation that would happen

in a university classroom. So you get to be like a fly on the wall as academics talk

about when you're favorite books, which I guess I'm just super nerdy. I think that that's

a really fun thing to do. And it was sort of a risk to bring this out to a wider audience

to see who actually would be interested in this. Anyway, I was just so enthralled with

this conversation and I hope you are too. And then of course, Steve and I bring the conversation

back to a very basic level and talk a little bit more scatologically. Without further

Aeron, do you think that Rudy Giuliani knows what trial by combat is?

I mean, maybe he did and he thought that if someone took him up on it, he could withdraw

a champion from the crowd because as we well know, there are some heavy hitters. There

are some people that look like they, you know, mountain-esque with plate carriers and

all kinds of shit strapped to him. So maybe he thought he could get pullitarian and

declare trial by combat and then pick the biggest dude in his audience and square off.
