Jorge Gomez was just a senior in high school when he organized Chile's first ever music festival.

It was October 1970.

Jorge remembers the day before it started.

He and a group of friends were installing a little wooden stage in the foothills of the

Andes near Santiago.

The festival was going to start the next day.

But we saw that at that moment hundreds of young people walked up the mountains.

It was very impressive to see the enthusiasm of so many people to come to this festival

that I was organizing without much help.

It was like a scene right out of the documentary about Woodstock that had inspired Jorge to

organize this in the first place.

Hundreds of young to lands were showing up dressed in the latest hippie fashions, carrying tents

or garbass and musical instruments.

The festival was called Piedra Roja or Red Stone.

It promised peace, music and love in a country polarized by Cold War politics.

Ultimately, it would become a decisive event in order to hold his life.

And it would take on mythical proportions in his country's history.
