Hello and welcome to super great kids' stories, wise tales from around the world, which

I'm Kim and I love stories. Hello super great kids and how are you?

I'm very happy because it's the beginning of May this week and in many countries people take

a day off and have festivals and dancing to celebrate the coming of summer. In England,

some people celebrate by dancing around a maple waving bells and hanker cheaves.

And in Ireland they say it's the day that fairies and little people sometimes make mischief and

play tricks. And I'm sorry to have to tell you that sometimes they can even do terrible things

like steal away with a baby. Our story this week is told by Kate Corkery and it's all about the

fairies making mischief on May the 1st. It seems some fairies are good and some are not.

Can you think of some stories you know with fairies or little people in them?

Hello super great kids, did you know it's our third birthday this weekend?

Now there's a reason to be cheerful and to celebrate we're launching a drawing competition.

We're giving away five super great kids stories t-shirts and five super great coloring books.

All you have to do is send us a picture of your favourite how and why story from the past three

years. It might be tubes telling of how the whale got its sad song or Kate's how the river Shannon

became or how the rainbow got into the sky or whichever how and why story is your all-time favourite.
