We are doing a preview podcast today and since we are putting up this episode just after

we recorded the last episode.

We have no new banter really and we have a couple long interviews to get to so that

is perfectly fine.

Gellb of the Athletic but we are going to start with one of Matt's colleagues and we are

bringing on Alex Koffee who covers the Oakland Athletics for the Athletic.

Okay so with the A's it always seems to come back to Billy Bean eventually so maybe we should

just start there and get the Billy Bean of it out of the way so it seemed like the A's

came closer to losing Bean than they had in some time.

Portedly he was trying to pursue other opportunities and maybe came close to being able to do that

but as it is he is still with the team so how close do you think he came to leaving and

do you think he still has ambitions to leave and would that be a big blow to the A's or

are they sort of ready to have the succession plan for Bean in place if and when they need

one.
