• Following the release of the Supreme Court’s decision in the student-loan forgiveness case Biden v. Nebraska, President Joe Biden held a press conference from the Roosevelt Room of the White House where he spoke critically of the court’s verdict. At the conclusion of the press briefing, Biden was asked about a State Department report which found the Biden Administration had mishandled the U.S. military’s withdrawal from Afghanistan during the summer of 2020. • At a press conference to address the Supreme Court’s decision in Biden v. Nebraska, Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said that, while he accepts the court’s decision, his department will seek a new method to alleviate the debt burden placed on students. In Biden v. Nebraska the Supreme court rejected the Biden Administration’s argument that the executive branch could unilaterally cancel student loan debts via the Heroes Act.
• CNN commentator Van Jones referred to the Supreme Court’s recent rulings as a “tragedy.”
