Today, I want to share the specific type of protein you should focus on for your specific health concern. I didn't want to cover plant-based protein or protein powders extensively because it became clear that neither were sufficient sources of protein. It’s not just about getting enough protein. The protein in your body can’t work without vitamins, minerals, and trace minerals. It’s important to get your protein from high-quality sources. This means obtaining grass-fed, pasture-raised, and wild-caught animal products. Determining the best type of protein for your needs: 1. Aging The best types of protein are: • Eggs • Oysters or shellfish once a week • Red meat once or twice a week • Beef liver once a week • Fatty fish twice a week • Chicken and turkey (if you don’t do well with excess iron) 2. Osteoporosis or osteopenia The best type of protein is: • Salmon 3. Anemia The best types of protein are: • Oysters • Beef liver twice a week • Red meat 4. Digestive problems The best types of protein are: • Hamburger • Eggs • Beef liver once per week 5. Macular degeneration The best types of protein are: • Eggs • Oysters • Seafood 4. Inflammation The best type of protein is: • Fatty fish 5. High blood pressure The best type of protein is: • Salmon 6. Depression The best type of protein is: • Salmon 7. 0:00.0 | I'd like to discuss the specific type of protein that you should be focusing on |
0:06.0 | for your specific body problem. The question is should it be fish? Should it be eggs? What about beef? |
0:14.0 | What about chicken? Should you consume beef liver? Or what about plant protein or even protein powder? |
0:21.5 | So today we're going to look at the nutrition profile in all of those different sources of |
0:26.3 | protein. And I'm talking about amino acids, bioavailability of those amino acids. That means |
0:34.6 | how well they're absorbed and utilized. Also, the B vitamins in those proteins, the omega-3 |
0:40.9 | to omega-6 fatty acids in those proteins, the minerals in those proteins that trace minerals |
0:48.0 | in these proteins. And we're going to look at which type of protein is good for certain things |
0:54.4 | more than other things. When I started to do this, I quickly found out that plant protein sources, |
1:02.0 | those so-called clean plant-based proteins, they're not sufficient. In other words, they don't have |
1:08.4 | the quantities of amino acids and they don't have the type of amino acids that are bioavailable. |
1:14.4 | They don't have the right ratios of these essential amino acids. So I didn't even include that |
1:19.1 | in the list. I also didn't include protein powders. Why? Because in nature, protein always comes with |
1:29.4 | certain nutrients like B vitamins and minerals and trace minerals. When you do protein powders, |
1:36.6 | it doesn't have those things in it. And these vitamins and minerals are very essential to make |
1:42.4 | that protein work. In other words, people might have this idea that if you just have enough protein |
1:47.9 | and eat more protein, that you'll build more muscles and ligaments and tendons, bone, etc. But |
1:53.9 | that protein in our body cannot work unless you have vitamins and minerals and trace minerals. |
2:00.0 | The vitamins and minerals and trace minerals are called cofactors or coenzymes. And so if we look |
2:08.4 | at the biochemical pathways in our bodies that help to do all the functions in the body, they're |
2:13.8 | all dependent on certain cofactors and coenzymes. And for example, if you're a deficient like B12, |
2:21.4 | you can't make red blood cells or if you're lacking vitamin C, your dreamals can't work and you |
