It is Monday, April 8th.

The end of March means the end of the first quarter.

And I think people in Hollywood are pretty happy to see it go.

At the box office, domestic grosses were down about 12% from Q1 of 2023, and a whopping

31% down from 2019, according to screen dollars.

The strikes are partially to blame, of course, but the volume of movies would have been down anyways.

And over in TV and streaming,

there have been some new hits,

like The Gentleman and Griselda on Netflix.

The True Detective reboot did well on Max,

despite creator Nick Pizzolado's best efforts to sabotage it.

And CBS successfully launched a new show,

Tracker off the Super Bowl, which set a record for

viewership. But don't tell a TV writer or film writer that things are fine. Writers and producers,

they definitely aren't. The entertainment economy just hasn't recovered after the two strikes

from last year. And the ongoing pullback and content is really impacting a lot of people.
