We both do a lot of work with diabetes prevention.

At our jobs is outpatient dietitians.

And the reason why we wanted to talk about this is because it's a really big problem for

people in our community, people of color.

And I personally suggest I have my Nana had diabetes, I have people in my family with diabetes.

And it's something that affects a ton of people.

About 9% of the population in the US has diabetes.

And about one in three people have what we call pre-dibities.

And we'll talk more about what that is.

But that's pretty much just you don't have diabetes yet, but you have an increased risk

for diabetes because your blood sugar is a little bit higher than normal.
