Welcome to a new edition of the Byron York show and today our guest is

Representative Kevin Brady who is the Ranking Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee.

Thank you very much for joining us and first of all, we have to ask, it is better to have

been the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee than the ranking minority?

Byron, there's no doubt about that because you get up every day working to lower tax rates.

So the Washington takes less of what families earn and what our

local businesses earn and you get a chance to jumpstart the economy in ways that

the experts said we couldn't and so yeah I love being chairman and we're going to work to

become it again so now you're trying to stop other people from raising tax

we are it's just stopping bad ideas it'll sort of go, turn the clock back on the economy that

seemed to never be higher than 2%. Let me start off by asking you about the news of

the day, which is that Nancy Pelosi surprised a number of people by essentially

taking impeachment of the president off the table unless there are some super

unusual circumstances.

What did you think when you heard her say that?

Well, so respectfully, I don't buy it.

I think the speaker, while she controls the house,

doesn't control her own party.

And there is a real rush to impeachment.

Here in the House, we're seeing that with Jerry Nadler,

we're seeing with the investigative committees.

We see it in the Ways and Means Committee,
