0:16.0	Yeah, just give us a little bit of an idea of your background before we really get into a lot of the stuff that I want to talk to you about today.
0:24.9	I'm a clinical psychologist. I'm a professor of psychiatry, clinical professor of
0:31.5	psychiatry at UCSF, University of California, San Francisco.
0:36.3	I'm one of a pretty small handful of people who's lived in the research world, the academic world, and the research world, and also the clinical practice world.
0:48.0	So I have a bit of a different perspective on things, perhaps.
0:52.0	How come that would give you a different perspective?
0:56.2	Because because in the psychology and psychiatry professions it's a very bifurcated world.
1:05.0	People, you have clinical practitioners who treat patients
1:09.0	and they live in one silo,
1:10.5	and you have academic researchers who conduct research and public
1:15.0	published studies and they live in another silo they don't have the same
1:19.2	training they don't have the same background they don't talk to each other
1:22.2	they know very little about one another's worlds, and you know, often what they're doing is it cross-purposes.
1:32.3	It seems interesting to not only as therapy bifurcating but also even within therapy there are so many different licenses you can get it used to
1:44.8	seem like you would treat more holistically or as a therapist you should be able to
1:50.0	treat trauma and OCD or whatever and now it seems like you have to get a license
1:56.2	or specialize in each one of those things.
2:01.4	You don't have to get a license in each one of those things, but there's, I mean, I honestly don't know how the average person possibly finds their way to a qualified competent therapist.
