1:02.5	joining us. Thanks for having me. I'm delighted to be here. I mean, what a hell of a title?
1:06.7	One of the best we've had on the show. Really, really good. I guess the first question is just,
1:12.6	what made you want to write about this? Are you a white liberal? Are many of your best friends,
1:17.2	white liberals? Why this topic in this particular framework? Well, like many Americans, I too
1:24.9	was sort of stunned and concerned by the rise of political polarization
1:29.2	in the United States. And it's been around for a long time, but it really seemed to be
1:34.0	exacerbated in the last 25 years, and then especially in the last 10 years. And I sort of was
1:40.6	impressed in a bad way. I was surprised and sort of struck by how, especially
1:47.6	in 2015, 2016, Donald Trump and his campaign were able to coalesce the right, coalesce the
1:54.2	Republican Party, the various factions of the Republican Party, even though they all believed
