I'm Gary Morton, and now let's talk to Lucy.

Hi, this is Lucy, and my guest today is Mr. E. Wall,

a vice president of Standard Oil Company of California,

and one of the directors of Junior Achievement,

a national organization dedicated to the development of today's teenagers into tomorrow's businessmen.

Mr. Wall is just one of our nation's many busy executives who are devoting their time

to this vital and worthwhile enterprise.

And I'm very pleased to have him with us today

to tell us something about junior achievement. Mr. Wall, thank you so much for coming.

Nice to be here. Thank you. There are many, many things that I, as well as a lot of people with

teenagers, really want to know about junior achievement. So right off the bat, what is junior

achievement? Well, junior achievement is a nationally organized and directed program of economic

experience that wherein teenagers learn the very basic facts of our American free enterprise system.

And they learn this by doing, by actually

organizing their own companies and operating them. Where do they start doing this? In schools?

They do this in school. That's right. Every school? The high schools. Are many of them, as many

as the program can reach, are offered this opportunity to join the

program of junior achievement. And many do, many thousands do. Is it introduced all over America?

Not entirely, not all over America. This started many years ago in Massachusetts. It spread to

New York and then to Chicago and Denver,
