Maybe Staples with the Staples singers. They were a gospel group and Pops decided to take them a little secular and they became a rhythm of blues.

They became a rhythm and blues group and they birded up all through the 70s.

It's Jennifer. We're listening to maybe Staples here because our birthday was this week and we've had that very good fortune of one meeting or in person.

Years ago at the BBC in London, which is a hilarious place to meet someone.

Not the end. We weren't shooting anything. We were recording a radio show called Lou Sands. It's a Sunday Arts program.

Also meeting her so early in the morning.

On like a Sunday. Yeah.

And yeah, so they gave us all tea. So nice. Yeah. And her sister.

And they were there couldn't have been nicer and Scottish host sitting in for who was it? Ned Sharon was that his show?

And and then later I think Sandy Sandy hosted it once when I was on. Sandy talks.

And Sandy talks for Captain Besslaum when I was on. I happen to be on with Vanessa Redgrave. Yeah, this show is starting big this week.

And she's been asked to read was promoting some hilariously fantastically lefty thing she was doing.

And I can't remember why I was there and how I'm a tour or something. And at the end of the show Sandy talks to go.

So we met Davis and at one point on the host spun one of her records and her voice came into the studio like thunder and everybody went along with it.

And she remembers she started and so we were in this small confined space with her voice.

Those were the days. Reverberated. Yeah. It was just magic. And then the last time we saw her was she was performing with Bob Dylan at the beacon theater.
