blocks that you move around and then you're just challenging each other doing different stuff

like as someone who doesn't ride trials i feel weirdly like i really get it palettes are class. They look like super trashy and it just looks like your neighbours hate you because it's like you've got this like, I don't know. Fire. Yeah. About to burn. It just looks so crap. It sounds bad. They're just like, but for trials riders it's so good because just this like modular setup yeah

0:38.7

exactly yeah good for trials dorks what is that what you did at the start is that is that how you got

0:42.6

into it so this is first on my notes i'm i'm going to be completely transparent how did it start

0:47.8

so in trials yeah uh what was the first thing you put on the floor what What was the first thing that got you into it? So it's weird because I think, like, loads of folk, it was kind of like the MBUK tricks and stunts type, which I don't know what's that, like 2000, no, like 99, 98, 99. And I feel like I, along with, like, my friends in Inverness, which is where I live now, the Scotch Highlands, which has got like such a good scene now.

1:15.6

We were basically, me and my friends, getting into bikes, like trying a bit of BMX in, like, riding downstairs and like our mountain bikes.

1:25.6

And I knew what to do bikes, but we kind of had this, like like period of sort of figuring out which discipline you're going to go down. I almost remember being in like school at like break and stuff and we're like kind of discussing like which direction we're going to go with it even when we were like 12 and I'm like, oh, I'm thinking. A round's like it's weird because trials is almost like a thing I don't know what it is because it's still the same to this day it seemed to be like even though it is super accessible it was almost like not necessarily done thing to do trials it's like oh you can maybe do BMX because you can't skate park or you do mountain biking because there's trails and it's like a bit of a blueprint to it.

2:03.1

And then I remember just being like, oh, this thing that like Martin Halls and Martin Ashton do, which I'm looking at in the, in the, in the UK. I think I might just like do that and that's pretty much it. basically riding like a 17 inch, like giant, like squeezing the seat down

2:19.5

as low as you can, like grinding down the teeth off the biggest cog to try and make it

2:23.4

bash guard.

2:24.7

And then just one day out of chance, well, not that big a chance, because it's Inverness.

2:30.1

It's a small time.

2:30.7

We bumped into these guys who actually had proper trials bikes.

2:33.9

They're maybe like four or five years older than us. And they just like took us in like

2:38.3

after meeting us one day in time and we just rode with them and then they just gave us like a little

2:43.3

bit of a sort of blueprint like what it is, what bike is and then. Is that 20 inch or was that 24?

2:49.1

Nah, so we'd be like right. so at the time I'd be riding like...

2:51.5

I'd be riding like a 26 inch mountain bike but trying to do trials on it. Yeah. And they would have like... It wouldn't even be what we call trials bikes now but like a sort of a sonic like DS1 or DS2 when we were like the black and red one. Yeah, I remember. With like the seat slam down like the smallest size. but for then

3:07.3

that was like

3:08.0

proper trials

3:08.5

back then

3:08.8

I've talked to you
