craft and they were very worried and there was a traffic jam going into Princeton to see the

phenomenon. That was then, 1938. And I remind you all that the war was imminent. The conduct of

the Hitlerites was as aggressive as we remember it, and the anxiety

throughout Europe was palpable. It also extended to here because no more wars. We didn't

want to get involved, and there was a loud, loud concern in America that we were going to

have more wasted lives, like for World War I.
