What is up, Dolphans, and welcome to the Drive Time podcast.

I am your host, Travis Wingfield.

And on today's show, the Dolphins are winners in Detroit.

And this is normally where I would insert the J-Rock song, but we're not going to do it for the preseason. Sound good. Another strong start, capitalized by an even stronger finish from this Dolphins' offense, and they beat the lines by the final 2417 in Detroit. And if you're keeping track of the series, we won one practice and the game. So I guess we took the series. We've got the things I wanted to see, checklist, general takeaways, individual standouts and stand downs, five takeaways, all of that and much more from my house, not the Baptist Hell Studios. This is the drive time podcast. So we're going to do this thing I do every week this year.

That's a sentence that was real.

I'm going to take a checklist of things I wanted to see before the game and see how

they performed against those things within the game.

And for the preseason, those are always going to be a little bit different, as you

can imagine.

And today, that list looked like this. Reset the line of scrimmage with consistency, be a tough football team, win the trenches. And we saw Kenny Grant doing it with regularity. Benito Jones as well. I thought offensively, Daniel Brunskill had some of that. I thought Jonas Svei Naya had some of that in some reps. It was a bit up and down, not nearly as dominant as the Bears game in that regard.

Jordan Phillips and Derek McClendon had some big physical reps.

We'll talk about all of that coming up here, but I thought they passed it barely with a checkmark,

not as emphatic as it was last week, but I am going to give them a checkmark on this particular spot.

I wanted to see some showcase performances from the question spots on the roster right now. The starting cornerbacks, they got the run, right? We heard Coach McDaniel talk after the game about the decision to play certain guys and not play certain guys and getting all the young guys reps, the entire draft class got reps in this game, and trying to get guys in the defensive backfield who are competing for starting spots, get them

reps to further unveil what that competition looks like at this point in time. And we saw

those, that position to me not, not really have anybody stand out and seize the moment.

And then the tight end position, I thought Farrow Brown really struggled in this game.

I thought Tanner Connor had some really nice moments, but also had a couple moments he probably wants back.

And the tight end group in general didn't really do that either.

But the backup offensive line, I felt did do a little bit of that.
