Different fantasy formats and what insights do we take from them to our core areas.

0:15.5

That's what we're talking about this week on stealing bananas.

0:17.6

And in the first two episodes, we didn't talk a ton about DFS,

0:40.0

so we're excited to be joined by someone who, that's a little bit more of their specialty. I'm Ben Gretch. If I'm on Twitter at Yards Pergretch with me, as always, Sean Siegel, the goat. But we are not huge DFS guys, Sean. And so we brought on somebody who is an incredibly smart DFS mind, Drew Dinkmeyer, fantastic NBA DFS guy, also NFL DFS year leverage article last year.

0:42.4

I'd establish the run was appointment reading for me.

0:44.2

Just fantastic in terms of just the DFS skill side as opposed to more or less, you know,

0:51.4

focusing on the NFL analysis side.

0:53.5

There's sort of these two buckets.

0:54.7

And we want to get a lot of your information and pick your brain about that DFS side and how

0:59.4

you apply some of those things across different fantasy formats. So how are you doing, Drew?

1:04.0

I'm doing great. Thank you guys for having me on so much. I certainly defer to you guys a lot

1:08.5

in terms of NFL analysis and player analysis and evaluation. You both are incredibly respected minds in the industry. And so I'm super thrilled to be here talking with you guys and bringing what skills I have to the table. Well, Drew, we have a ton of questions for you today. And anytime that I get a chance to interact with you, I'm always excited about this idea that one day you and I will be healthy,

1:28.8

you will be in the same place and will play some tennis. Tennis isn't the topic today. Jokovic is not the topic.

1:34.5

We're going to jump right in to some fantasy information here. We are going to look at a lot of DFS, but Drew, the three of us are in a dynasty league together.

1:43.2

It was an auction startup.

1:44.9

Since we're talking about thinking across formats, just to kind of get us warmed up today,

1:50.6

what do you take from dynasty into redraft and specifically with an auction dynasty?

1:56.7

Is there anything you take from auction leagues into snake draft formats?

2:00.5

Yeah, I think on the dynasty side of things, I'm still kind of getting my feet wet there. I'm basically in year three or four of starting to play out dynasty leagues. And I, you know, I dove right into the deepest of waters with you guys in leagues and doing auctions right off the bat. But the thing that I would say that I've learned from the dynasty side of things is really to emphasize talent over role. I think that's something that Sean in your work for so many

2:21.6

years has been so integral into forming my process is really, you know, just give players the

2:26.7

opportunity over time and they'll sort of emerge. And I think that's something that you think

2:32.2

of naturally in dynasty because you sort of recognize that your roster is going to take years to develop. But I don't think we often put those same characteristics in play, in redraft, in understanding that at times during the course of the season, it's going to take time for things to develop. And it's really difficult when you prioritize this heavily, because in season, you want to hold on to these players that you just want them to get more opportunity and you're kind of waiting for it. I think that's the biggest carryover for me from dynasty to redraft. And then in general, just, you know, with football being such a game of attrition and such a challenging sport for older players, just emphasizing youth and erring on the side of youth and
