of the Trauma and Resilience Center and the author, as I said, of the unexpected gift of trauma.

The book was a winner of the 2023 International Latino Book Awards from the Hispanic Heritage Literature

Organization. Dr. Shiro graduated from Catholic University of Venezuela. Later, she got her

master's and doctorate degree at Yeshiva University in New York

with a postdoctoral specialization in couples and family therapy at the Ackerman Institute for the Family

and further training at the International Trauma Studies Program at NYU.

She has been a passionate and dedicated psychologist who specializes in working with families, couples, adults,

teenagers, and children. She is on the board of local, national, and international organizations,

such as the World Happiness Foundation, Kedina International, HIAS International, Greater Miami Jewish
